Alright! One big thing about cooking healthy is making sure you have the right foods! Below is an example of what I usually keep stocked in the fridge/freezer/pantry- give or take a few items that I may have left off my accident!

Produce:

  • Fruits (strawberries, blueberries, cantaloupe, grapes, bananas-these are ALWAYS in the house, apples, oranges, etc.)
  • Veggies (lettuce-in the bag, a head of lettuce- for sandwich wraps, tomatoes, bell peppers- my favorite!, onions, potatoes, celery, garlic)

Grains:

  • English Muffins (I get the 100 calorie english muffins)
  • Bread (we usually buy Sunbeam because it’s on sale. I’m on a budget, too!)
  • Plain Bagels
  • Pasta (angel hair, bow-tie)

Meat

  • Beef (ground, and sirloin)
  • Chicken breasts
  • Fish (tilapia and shrimp)
  • Ham (for sandwiches)
  • Turkey (for sandwiches)

Baking/Cooking Essentials

  • Flour (all purpose)
  • Sugars (brown, powdered, white, and substitute)
  • Baking powder and Baking Soda
  • Cornstarch
  • Cornmeal
  • Coconut (shredded)
  • Chocolate Chips
  • Extracts (vanilla, almond)
  • Various spices (cayenne, italian, dried herbs, pumpkin pie seasoning, cinnamon, garlic powder, garlic salt, onion salt, onion powder)
  • Sugar free pudding mixes
  • Coolwhip (or other whipped topping)

Dairy

  • Cheese (blocked cheddar, shredded mozzarella, shredded cheddar, feta)
  • Plain Greek yogurt
  • Eggs
  • Cottage Cheese
  • Light sour cream

Other Condiments

  • Peanut Butter
  • Jelly (we use Welch’s grape jam because I like the texture of jam better than jelly)
  • Orange Jelly (for one of our favorite recipes!)
  • Marshmallow Fluff (delicious as frosting!)
  • Ketchup/Mustard
  • Sauerkraut
  • Jalapenos/Banana Peppers
  • Olive Oil
  • Balsamic Vinegar
  • Lemon Juice
  • Craisins
  • Salsa
Snacks
  • Graham Crackers
  • Marshmallows
  • Popcorn

Drinks

  • Coke Zero or Diet Coke (Not healthy, I know, but everyone has their vices)
  • Miscellaneous Juices (for my husband)

  • Won Ton wrappers

And that’s pretty much it! These are the ingredients I get all of my recipes from. Sometimes I go out to get special ingredients, but not very often. I hope this helps!
